Elizabeth Jean Gatten, age 83, of Harrison, died on Thursday, May l7,
200l, after a long illness at her home.  Jean was born on November 12,
1917 in St. Marys, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Carolyn Markenbach.
      In 1937 she married James O. Gatten and moved to Harrison from Mt.
Pleasant.  He preceded her in death in 1987.
      After 20 years of dedicated service to Harrison community Schools
she retired in 1980.
      Surviving Jean are daughters Mary Noseda of Harrison, and Carmen
Green, of Scotts, Michigan, three grandchildren, and two great
grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.  According
to the wishes of the family cremation has taken place.
