Garver, 7l, passed away Wednesday, Sepember 22, 1999 at his home in Farwell. Walter was born April ll, 1928 in Clare County to Walter E. and Hazel (Alwood) Garver. He married Thelma (Thomas) Schmus on April l, 1977 in Clare. Walter farmed all his life, ran a local milk route for Kraft Foods for 12 years, and worked 23 years for the Clare County Road Commission. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, five children; Maxine and Greg Warner, Walter L. Garver, Joyce and Charles Lake, David and Brenda Garver, all of Farwell, and Sharon Wilson-Garver of Saginaw; three step children: Stephanie and Glen Mogg of Coleman, Russie and Ed Marshall of Clare, and Walter and Kelly Schmus of Rosebush, 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Charles and Ellen of Pontiac, Forest of Farwell, Lester and Ginny of Lake, Rex and Carrie of Clare, and Max and Pauline; five sisters, Fern Squires of Clare, Donna and Norm Mosey, and Betty and Nial Abbott of Harrison, Virginia and Clyde Haft of Milan, Marlyn and David Smith of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Dorthea Garver of Beaverton; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Hazel Garver; two brothers, Wayne of Mt. Pleasant and Robert of Beaverton; and one sister Doris Dalton of Clare. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 25, 1999 at l0:00 am at S. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clare with Reverend Paul Fetzer officiaing. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial conributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the Pardee Cancer Fund.
