Clare newspaper clipping 1977
Mary T. Hemstreet, 87 of Clare Nursing Home died Saturday, April 2, after a 
long illness.

She was born to Stewart and Albina A. (Gerow) Wilson [sic-should read Stewart 
Wilson and Albina A. (Orvis) Gerow] on January 23, 1890 in Sheridan Township, 
Clare County.

She married George Wesley Hemstreet on February 4 [sic-should read 14], 1906 
in Clare.  He preceded her in death on December 9, 1966.

She worked in the kitchen at Lackey Hotel and helped during Christmas at 
Maxwell's Flowers.  She was a member of the Eagle Church Ladies Aid Society, 
Charter member of the Clare County Extension Club.

 
Surviving are 2 sons, Gerald and Jack of Clare; 2 sons preceded her in death; 
3 daughters, Mrs. Inez Pudvay, Clare; Mrs. Gladys Moline, Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. 
Threase Johnson, Tulsa, Okla.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Inez Teale, Clare, Mrs. Hildah 
Smith, Flint; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5 from the Stephenson Funeral Home, 
Clare, with Rev. Geoffrey Clay officiating.  Burial was at the Cherry Grove 
Cemetery.
