Mourn Death Of Orman Huntley

Orman Huntley, son of Amos and Anna Huntley, was born August 11, 1880 in 
Syracuse, New York and passed away Sunday morning, March 13 at the Gratiot 
Community Hospital in Alma, at the age of 79 years.

When he was nine years of age, he with his family, came to Clare where he has 
since made his home.  In 1905 he was united in marriage to Myra Orvis.  To 
this union were born two children, Mrs. Mable Bagwell who preceded him in 
death and Orison Huntley.

His early life was spent in the lumber woods and later he was engaged in 
working for the Ann Arbor railroad company until his retirement at the age of 
67.

October 16, 1918 he was united in marriage to Martha Crurmine [sic] and eight 
children were born to this union.  One son Orman preceded him in death.  He 
was a loving husband and father, always ready to help a friend and neighbor 
and held in high esteem by all who knew him.  One sister and one brother 
preceded him in death.

Left to mourn their loss are his wife, Martha, four daughters Doris Whitney of 
Oil City, Ruby Shaver of Holt, Leona Wing of Marion and Vivian Benchley of 
Clare.  Four sons, Orison of Clare, Wesley of Marion, Lawrence of Farwell and 
Sgt. First Class Alfred Huntley of Augusta, Georgia, 27 grandchildren, 20 
great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Mabel Reger of Clare, other relatives and 
friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 16 from the Thurston 
Funeral home with Rev. Charles Hull officiating and interment in Cherry Grove 
cemetery.
