This file is located at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/clare/grant/obituary/h53609.txt Obituary from the Clare Sentinel November 1914: DAVID HENDERSON Aged Grant Township Pioneer Passed Away Sunday After Long Illness Last Sunday occurred the death of David Henderson, one of Grant Township's well known citizens at the ripe old age of 76 and Nine months. Mr. Henderson was born in Alfred, Canada in 1838. In the year of 1858 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Park of the same place. To this union were born 10 children of which 6 survives with his widow. All attending the funeral except one, William of Alberta. The children are namely, Samuel, Hugh, and James of Grant Township, Mrs. Burt Lloyd, and Mrs. Horace Joyner from Clare. Mr. Henderson has a sister Mrs. Jackson Park, living in Flint at the age of 83yrs. Mr. Henderson came to Michigan in 1864 and settled in Spring Lake then 31 years ago moved with his family to Clare Co. Together with many relatives who survive, there are ten grandchildren who all was present at the funeral except Clara Henderson of Alberta. The Funeral was conducted by Rev. Lyford from the Congregation Church, it was held from the home on November 10 with burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery. The large number present told of the esteem in which deceased was Held by his neighbors. Those present from a distance were: Mr. & Mrs. Jackson Park, Mrs. George Wildman, Miss Matilda Park, Mrs. James Park and J. G. Livingston all from Flint.
