Goldie was born the daughter of Roy and Edna (Draper) Thayer on January 25, 1912 in Clare. She married Homer Irwin on August 18, 1934 in New Buffalo, and he predeceased her on December 4, 1958. Goldie had lived in the Genesee County area since 1942. She had belonged to the Trinity Methodist Church in Flint. Goldie worked as a clerk in the 67th District Court, Genesee County, and retired in 1977. Goldie is survived by 3 sons Jack (Peggy) of Swartrz Creek, Larry (Penny) of Westland; Sisters Audrey (Richard) Dakin of Grand Rapids, and Ruth Johnson of Clare; 6 grandchildren: Stephane, Craig, Charles, Jeff, Tracy and Michelle; 2 step grandchildren Amanday Hoske and Charity Antoon; 3 great grandchildren Isabella Hewitt, Trenton and Emilou Irwin; l step great grandchild Nick Poor. Goldie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and siblings Frauline Cotton, Jake Thayer and Eugene Thayer. Services were held Monday, November l at ll:00 a.m. at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. Burial was at the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
