Eaton aaeaton@voyager.net Obituary from the Clare County (Michigan) Cleaver, September 20, 200l Joseph L. Chaskey, age 57 of Harrison, passed away at his home on September 6, 200l. He was born to James E. and Lillian I. (Rieger) Chaskey on April 20, 1944, at Ocqueoc Township, Michigan. He was born and raised in Onaway Area. He married Sandra I. Dean on November 26, 1966 at the Onaway United Methodist Church. He was staff administrator for the U. S. Army Reserve and retired April, 1997. His community involvement was with The Eagles Blue and American Legion Post in Harrison, member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. His hobbies were gardening and woodworking. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; sons, Damon and Jill Chaskey, Nathan Chaskey; grandaughter Courtney Chaskey, all of Harrison a son, Bame Chaskey of Shepherd; brothers Jim and Joan Chaskey, Onaway, Larry and Kathleen Chaskey, Onaway, Harry and Jean Chaskey of Colorado; sister-in-law, Donna Chaskey of Onaway. Preceded in death by his parents and one brother Louis "Sonny" Chaskey. The funeral was held Monday, September 10, at the Chagnon Funeral Home, Onaway, Reverend James Harwood officiating. Internment was at Waverly Township Cemetery in Onaway. The VFW Post 5857 provided military honors at the grave site. Memorials can be made to he First Congregational United Church of Christ.
