June 17, 1999: Jesse Robert Kroll, age 72, of Clare, passed away on Sunday, June 13, at the Aleda Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born the son of Robert and Louise (Langus) Kroll, on Apr 29, 1927, in Ashland, Wisconsin. He married Dorothy Rhodes on Aug. 14, 1950 in Farwell. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Army in Europe. Jesse had been a farmer and loved to garden. He had been a Dow Chemical employee for 21 years, had owned and operated Kroll's General Store in Loomis and had owned and operated Kroll's Texaco at the Loomis exit. He attended the Loomis Missionary Church and was a member of the Farwell VFW post 3039. Mr. Kroll is survived by his wife Dorothy, three sons: Rodney (Sylvia) Kroll, of Ohio, Jeffrey, and Ty, both of Clare, a brother Carl of Beaverton, three sisters Lydia Cole, and Clare Scheiber both of Midland, and Dorothy Connors of New Hampshire. Also surviving are five Grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by a son Michael and a brother Freddy. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June l6, at ll:00 a.m. from the Stephension-Wyman Funeral Home in Clare with Pastor John Leisenberg officiating. Burial was in the Wise Twp. Cemetery in Loomis.
