Obituaries from the Clare County Cleaver.  October 21, 1999

Nicholas Joseph Karl, age 85 of Clare, passed away suddenly at his home
Thursday, October 14, 1999.  Nicholas was born the son of Nicholas and
Barbara (Schwartz) Karl on March 14, 1914 in Detroit.  He married the
former Rita Hufnagel on May 7, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Church in Yale.
Nicholas served in the Army during WWII, he had worked for Chrysler in
the machine repair department.  He moved to Clare 23 years from the East
Detroit area.  He was a Life member of the D.A.V.  Nicholas belonged to
the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare.
     Surviving Nicholas is his wife Rita; 2 sons David Joseph of Ann
Arbor and James Christopher of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter Mary Catherine
(Mark) Zingery of Ludington; 2 brothers Robert Joseph (Shirley) Karl of
Armada and Matthew Nicholas Karl of West Palm Beach, FL.; 4
grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 2 step-great grandchildren.
Nicholas was predeceased by two sons Robert Charles and John Matthew.
     Funeral Services were held Monday October 18, at ll:00 a.m. at the
St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ryan officiating, burial
was in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the
St. Cecilia Debt Retirement Fund.  Arrangements by the Stephenson-Wyman
Funeral Home, Inc., of Clare.
