Wood, age 87, of Farwell passed away on October 8, 200l at the Masonic Pathways of Alma. He was born the son of Alfred and Evelyn (LaMode) Wood on April l, 1914. He married Helen M. Fogg on November 16, 1935 in Detroit. Leonard was a retired member of the Carpenter's Union,former owner of Wood's Hardware of Houghton Lake and a very talented artist who enjoyed many styles of painting. He was also a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge. He and his wife moved to Farwell in 2000 after spending most of their retirement years in Florida and North Carolina area. Leonard is survived by his wife Helena, a resident at Masonic Pathways of Alma; brother Jack; sisters Lee, Peggy, Dorothy, and Sally; three children: Doug and Lola Wood of Arizona, Kathleen Turpin of New Jersey, and Thomas and Janis Wood of White Lake, MI. He also leaves many grandchildren including Ron and Pam (Wood) Grider of Farwell and seven other grandchildren from out of state; 13 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. His parents and a brother Don preceded him in death. Mr. Wood requested to be cremated with only a private family service. The Dewey Funeral Home in Alma made arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Pathways of Alma or Hospice of Central Michigan.
