He was born April 12, 1923 in Flint. He was a resident of Gaines, Michigan for most of his life and graduated from Gaines High School. He married Shirley Yauch on August 23, 1947. He was a former member of Holy Redeemer and a current member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare. Mr. McCaslin served as a Trustee at Garfield Township from 1992-1996. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a Sales Rep for Standard Oil from 1947-1960, owned and operated three McCaslin Service Centers in Saginaw from 1961-1971 and was a manufacturers representative for Lawson Products from 1973-1996. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: James A. and wife Kathleen of Brookfield, Wisconsin, John E. and wife Annabell of Rockford Maryland, Mary Margaret and husband Tom Good of Tucson, Arizona, Joseph R. and wife Angela of Farwell; grandchildren: Jason McCaslin of Eugene, Oregon and James III and Joey of Farwell; sisters: Ruby Clark, JoAnn Hetzer, Caroline Hetzer; brothers: Edward, Jack and Wayne McCaslin, and Eddie Hyde; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronald and Shirley Yauch, Corbin and Shiela Yauch, Glenn and Ione Corning, Harry and Maxine Tullar, Edward and Betty Hawkins, Gary and Beverly Cramer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Naomi; mother and father-in-law Mary and John Yauch, sister, Melvola Sargent; sister-in-law Barbara Willis. A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, August 7 at l0:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton with Father Vincent A. DeLorenzo officiating. Burial was in Argentine Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Girlstown Foundation of Belleville, Whaley Children's Center of Flint or Hospice of Clare County. Funeral arrangements by Swartz Funeral Home.
