October 21, 1999 Erwin A. Mitchell, age 72, of Farwell, passed away Thursday, October 14, 1999 in Lansing. Erwin was born the son of Maurice and Dora L. (Zeis) Mitchell on January 3, 1927 in Charlotte. He married the former Jean Fancon on January 4 1950 in Clare. Erwin was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Clare, a member of the American Legion and a Life Member of the Farwell V.F.W. Post 3039. Erwin served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 then joined the Marines in 1948 and served until his discharge in 1952. He retired from Dow Chemical in Midland in 1983. Surviving Erwin is his wife Jean; a daughter, Kathy Bauer of Mt. Pleasant; a sister June E. (Gordon) Foell of Clare; a aunt Helen Albin of Charlotte; 2 nephews Gary and Larry Foell and a niece Linda Witbeck. Funeral services were held Monday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.
