Joyce was born September 4, 1924 in Capac, Michigan the daughter of Frank A. and Clara I. (Mundt) Klug. Mrs. Metzer had resided in rural Harrison since 1975, moving from Capac. She was united in marriage to Roy J. Metzer in 194l in Napoleon, Ohio. Mr. Metzer preceded her in death in 1975. Joyce Metzer was baptized at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Capac, Michigan. She was active in Avon Sales for over thirty years. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Murphy and husband Ron of Milford and Norma Metzer of Harrison; four sons, Ronald Metzer of Harrison, Gary Metzer of Roseville, Glenn Metzer of Harrison, and Keith Metzer and wife Debra, also of Harrison. Twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Leonard Klug and wife Maxine of Harrison and Hilyard Klug and wife Betty of Capac, a sister, Delores Northrup and husband Harold of Avoca, plus other relatives and friends. Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Alan and a brother Willard. Funeral services were held Monday, July 5, 1999, at l:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Warren Graff of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison, officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest (Greenwood Township) Cemetery, Harrison, Michigan. Michigan Memorial Contributions may be made to the Clare County Chaper of the American Cancer Society.
