October 21, 1999 Doris E. "Bettie" Marotzke, age 83 of Clare, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 in Alma. Bettie was born the daughter of Earl and Florence (Smith) Town on Nov. 16, 1915 in Lake George. She married John C. Marotzke on Sept. 29, 1940. Bettie worked in the Harrison Extension office for 20 years. She had also taught 4-H for 20 years. She had been a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Clare, and had been the organist for 20 years. She had also belonged to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church inClare most recently. Bettie's family described her as always cheerful. Surviving Bettie is a son John C. (Maxine) of Ortonville; a daughter Judith L. (Eric) Bergfors-Colby of LaConner, Wash.; a brother Arthur Town; 3 sisters Florine Jeannin, Theola McPherson and Carol Hatcher; a sister-in-law Helen Town; 5 grandchildren and l great grandchild. Bettie was predeceased by a broher Ernest Town. Memorial Services were Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at ll:00 a.m. at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Barker officiating. Burial was in the Surrey Twp. Cemetery. Arrangements by the Stepheson-Wyman Funeral Home, Inc.
