Fred was born December 31, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Amos and Mildred (Whitley) Martin. Mr. Martin had resided in Harrison since 1970, moving from Warren. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post 404, the V.F.W. Post 1075 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235, all of Harrison. Martin was united in marriage to Shirley I. Hanham October 12, 1946 in Detroit. Surviving are his wife, Shirley, of Harrison; two sons, Frederick J. Martin and wife Lynn of Warren and Randy Martin of Harrison; two daughters, Vicki L. Jack of Bradenton, Florida and Shellie M. Williams and husband Robert of Roseville; seven grandchildren; a brother, Amos Martin of Florida and a sister, Jean Hynes of Pulski Illinois, plus other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Martin. Services were held Tuesday, September 28, 1999, at 7:00 pm from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Offricers and Members of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2235 officiating. Cremation followed at North Central Michigan Crematory, Marion, Michigan.
