                             Death Claims Ervin Orvis
                    Clare newspaper clipping November 23, 1967

	Ervin Leroy Orvis, age 83 years, passed away Friday evening, November 
17 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility after 18 months of ill health.

	He was born in Sheridan township, October 23, 1884, the son of Riley 
and Martha Orvis.  On September 22, 1915, he was married to Myrtle Kever who 
preceded him in death on November 7, 1967.

	He resided on the same farm all his life and attended the Eagle Church 
of God.  Surviving are one son, Leonard of Clare, one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence 
Bates of Midland, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, also two sisters, 
Mrs. Mary Gerow and Mrs. Ethel Kirkpatrick of Clare.

	The funeral was held Monday afternoon November 20 at 2:00 p.m. from 
the Eagle Church of God, Rev. Charles Hilliard officiating and burial in 
Cherry Grove Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by the Stephenson Funeral Home.
