Obituary from the Clare County Cleaver, March 29, 200l, Harrison, MI Odell "Deak" Smith was born on April 19, 1920 in Lansing, as the son of August and Mary Smith. He was one of three children: brother, Maurice Smith and sister, Clara Duncan. Donna (Rohrbacher) Smith was born on December 23, 1922 in Williamston as the daughter of Orva Rohrbacher and Mabel Rohrbacher. She was one of nine children: brothers, Harold (wife Eve) and Gerald Rohrbacher; and sisters, Beverly Rohrbacher, Helen Bodo, Joyce Morris, Florence Glossop, Mary Lou Crissey, and Doris Ross. Deak and Donna were wed on November l5, 1941 in Lansing. Together they raised three sons, Richard Smith of St. Johns, Daniel (wife Terry) Smith of Sydney and Larry Smith of Haslett. Deak and Donna moved from Lansing to the Harrison/Lake George area in the mid 1970s where they became members of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Boosters and various other local clubs. Together they enjoyed playing cards, gardening and traveling. Mr. and Mrs. Smith died on Saturday, Mach 24, 200l. They leave behind their children; sisters, Clara, Helen, Joyce, Florence, and Mary Lou; sister in law, Eve; grandchildren, Jade, Brent, Matt, Jason and Katie; great grandchild, Lauren. Preceding them in death are their parents, brothers Maurice, Harold and Gerald, and sisters Beverly and Doris. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 27, at 6-8 pm and Wednesday, March 28 at 6-8 pm with a Rosary service at 6 pm on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held to celebrate their lives on Thursday, March 29 at ll:00 am with Father Daniel Nowak OFM presiding. Arrangements were entrusted to Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison.
