"Dick" Poet, 57, of Clare, died suddenly on Saturday, October 30, 1999, the result of a heart attack suffered while fighting a fire. He was born the son of H. Franklin and Dorothy (Lansing) Poet on June 2l, 1942 in Sheridan Twp. Clare County. He had recently retired from Dow Corning and was a member of the Clare Fire Department. Pettit-Kapplinger VFW Post in Clare, the John Q. Look Masonic Lodge, the Bay city Consistory, and the Elf Khrufeh Shrine Temple in Saginaw, and attended brown Corners United Brethren in Christ Church. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Poet of Clare, a special friend Sandy Diehl, a sister-in-law Arlene Post-Yost, and nephews Jeff and J.J. Poet. He was preceded in death by his father, H. Franklin Poet and his broher, Jay Poet. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at ll:00 a.m. from the Brown Corners United Brethren in Christ Church, with burial in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.
