James was born the son of Arthur and Agnes (Hampton) Pillips on April 15, 1941 in Clare. He married the former Karen Morse on September 3, 1960 in Coleman. James had been a life long resident of the area; he had worked in the Transportation Department for Dow Chemical. James was a member of the Colonville Church of God, he also enjoyed Golfing, Bowling, and riding his Harley. James is survived by his wife Karen; a son James Darrin, of Weidman; 2 daughters Debbie Sullivan of Farwell, and Deanna Lynn (Tim) Weldon of Clare; 2 brothers Norris and Merle both of Clare; 5 grandchildren, James was prececeased by a sister JoAnn. Services were held on Monday, July 19, at 2:00 P.M. at the Colonville Church of God, Pastor Roland "Dutch" Gerdes officiated. Burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mid-Michigan Hospice or to the Colonville Church of God. Arrangements by the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home, Inc. of Clare.
