He passed away July 22nd 1951 after several years of illness. He came to the United States in 1891 at the age of twelve, with his parents, two brothers, Carl and Adam, three sisters, Rosa, Anna and Carrie. One sister Mary was born in the United States. They settled in Sheridan township. He was united to Mabel Huntley in 1902. In 1924, he went into the road contracting business in various places in Michigan until 1931 and upon retiring he has made his home at 201 Maple St., in Clare. He leaves to mourn, his wife; five sons, Harold and Amos, of Kalamazoo, Roy, of Midland, Frank, of Pinconning, Laurence at home; two daughters, Gertrude Waite, of Midland, Marie Horning, of Clare; twenty-three grandchildren, one brother, Adam Reger, of Clare; two sisters, Rosa Coleman, of Monroe, and Mary Kenney, of Belding, and a host of relatives and friends. One daughter, Delma, preceded him in death eight years ago. Funeral services were held from the Clare Church of God at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Elza Beery officiating, and interment at Cherry Grove cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Thurston Funeral Home.
