He was one of nine childen, three of whom are surviving: brother, John (wife Orla) Sanderson and sisters, Elizabeth Biglow and Martha (husband Bob) Forsyth. On August 13, 1938 James was wed to Dorothy Sundell in Royal Oak. Together they raised four children: sons, William (wife Rene) Sanderson of Tennessee, Robert Sanderson of Harrison, daughters: Peggy Bonkowski of Troy and Nancy (husband Sherman) Beeler of Pontiac. During WWII James was in the 8" Army Air Corps and spent time in England. He and his family lived in Rochester for 35 years, raising 6500 chickens. He and wife moved to Harrison in 1981 where he became a member of the VFW Post 1075, Donut Hole Club, and was active at United Brethren Church. He enjoyed going to the casino in Mt. Pleasant and standing in for Santa Claus at church, VFW and parades. He was a practical man and a very hard worker. Mr. Sanderson died on Wednesday, January 17, 200l at the age of 85. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, children, three siblings, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents and six siblings. Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 19, 7-9 pm with a funeral service to celebrate his life on Saturday, Jan. 20, at l:00 pm at Stocking Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Palmer presiding. Arrangements were entrused to Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, Michigan.
