Scrimger Was Township's Respected Citizen for Thirty-Seven Years. Amos J. Scrimger was born October 29, 1876, near Breedsville, Van Buren county, Michigan, and departed this life September 27, 1922, at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 28 days, following an illness of several months, the cause of his death being abscess of the lungs following pneumonia. Mr. Scrimger moved to Frost township in 1885, where he has since made his home. On July 4, 1901, he was united in marriage to Sarah E. Klingler. To this union were born three daughters, Pansy, Frances and Dorothy who with the faithful wife are left to mourn. He is also survived by three brothers and five sisters: Walter, of Detroit; Seth of Lum; and Arvin of Kings Mill, Michigan; Mrs. O.N. King, of Houghton Lake; Mrs. R.D. Gleason, of East Jordan; Mrs. Lewis McDowell, of Columbiaville; Mrs. Paul Troy, and Miss Pearl, of Battle Creek. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Frost town hall, Elder Geo. W. Burt, of Beaverton, officiating and the remains laid to rest in the Frost cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Perry, and Mrs. A.C. Klingler, of Cadillac; Mark Klingler, of Detroit; Arvin and Seth Scrimger and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McDowell, of Lapeer county.. Mr. Scrimger was one of the most patriotic and progressive citizens of Clare county and was greatly respected by all his friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
