Obituary from the Clare County (Michgan)Cleaver, 4-26-2001 Thora Maxine (Stahlman) Morrison was born on June 7, 1917 in New York as the daughter of Charles and Ottilia (Brookhouse) Stahlman. She was one of three children; brother John Stahlman and sister, Avis Summers. In 1940, Thora was wed to Samuel Morrison, together raising three children, Michael (wife Gail) Morrison of Lakeland, Florida, Patricia (husband Tom) Sieberns of Huntington, Indiana and Stephen (wife Shirley) Morrison of Hope, Michigan. Thora attended Mt. Pleasant High School and Central Michigan University. She and her family moved to Harrison and became members of the United Brethren in Christ Church, where Thora taught Sunday School for the past 45 years, was past president of the Women's Fellowship, choir member for many years and was the church organist. She had been a member of the Harrison Women's Club for 59 years and a past president. She was active in many community activities throughout her lifetime, including Clare County Extension activities. During her years as a high school teacher, she loved working with dramatics and forensics. She was very interested in the success of her students. For 30 years, Thora and Sam have been members of the Gladwiniters, Chapter 17 of the National Campers and Hikers Association. She also enjoyed porcelain painting. Mrs. Morrison died on Saturday, April 14, 200l at the age of 83. She leaves behind her husband, children; sister, seven grandchildren: Edward, Richard, Michelle, Martin, Monte, Angela and Stephanie; 12 great grandchildren: Amy, Marcus, Dakota, Gatlin, Arizona, Andrew, Matthew, Mary Kathrine, Karl, Mitchell, Samantha, Stata, and one on the way; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many dear friends. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother. Visitation was held for Mrs. Morrison on Tues, April 17 at 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm with a funeral service to celebrate her life Wed., April 18 at ll:00 am at Stocking Funeral Home, with Pastor Lee Palmer presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison United Brethren in Christ Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Stocking Funeral Home.
