His parents moved to Clare County in the year of 1878 and settled on a farm at Dover, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Carrie E. He was public spirited and enjoyed the association with others, holding offices, either treasurer, clerk or supervisor of Hatton Township for many years. He was also a member of the Grange and Gleaner Lodge, holding respective offices in both at that time. To this union three children was born, Ellen, Ralph and Ray. The sons died in infancy, the daughter now Mrs. Earl Henderson resides in Vernon Township. In 1919 they sold their farm and moved to Mt. Pleasant and bought a home on South Main Street. Later they sold this home and moved to their present in Vernon Township in 1924. He was a devoted husband and father, a friend to all whom knew him, and will be sadly missed by all. He leaves to mourn their loss: his wife, the daughter Mrs. Earl Henderson, one sister Mrs. Hattie Dennis on Pontiac, two granddaughters, Mrs. Ray Honeychurch of Lake Worth, Florida and Mrs. Walter Warren of Lansing. Several nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday January 15th from the home at 1:30 P.M. and from the Clare Methodist Church at 2:30 with Rev. Charles. Kleinhardt and Rev. Charles B. Hahn officiating, and interment at Cherry Grove Cemetery. Those attending from a distance were: Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Leach and Mrs. Rose Lappen of Saginaw, Mr & Mrs. Cal Harrington of Jackson, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Miller of Farwell, and Mr. & Mrs. Will Henderson and Allen Henderson of Harrison.
