The Clare Sentinel, Friday, November 12, 1926 JOHN VANCONANT PASSES AWAY The Deceased Was a Resident of Grant Township About Forty Years John Everhart VanConant passed from this life Thursday, November 4th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Dunham, of Lapeer at the age of eighty-three years, four months and sixteen days. He was married in the year 1875 to Eva Haynes and this union was blessed with five children. The wife departed from this life in 1892. The deceased lived for many years on the farm now occupied by A. Dale in Grant, and later moving near Loomis and Luke, prior to making his home with his son, Milo at Barryton. Those who survive are Mrs. George Dunham, of Lapeer; Mrs. Jos. McGinnis, of North Bradley; Earnest, of Clifford; Harvey of Chesaning; and Milo, of Barryton; one brother, Philip VanConant, of Dover; together with nineteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The remains were brought to Clare Saturday and services held from the Methodist church at one o'clock, Rev. E.T. Smith officiating and interment made in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
