Woodworth November 13, 1929 - February 07, 2008 John Eugene Woodworth, age 78, a lifelong resident of Clare, passed away at Blodgett Spectrum Hospital of Grand Rapids, on the morning of February 7, 2008. He was the eldest child of Floyd Wesley and Thelma Marie (Kirkpatrick) Woodworth, born on Nov. 13, 1929. John was united to Arline Alice Hunter of Grayling, on Dec. 10, 1949, in the parsonage of the Clare United Methodist church, by Rev. Leslie Nevins. A rugged individual all of his life, John had worked in the Oil Field, Truck Driving, Pipe-laying, and Water Well drilling. He and his wife also had Woodworth & Co. Antiques in Clare from the mid 1970’s into the 80’s. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His passions were Salmon fishing and antiquing. Antiquing met his love of our past and all that pertains to it. While his demeanor could be gruff, it masked a soft heart. If you were his friend, you knew yourself what it meant. To him: a friend was a friend worth having indeed. John attended the Central Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant for a number of years. He loved his church and the members of the congregation. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 58 years, Arline, his son William of Lansing, his daughter Jacquelyn (Gary) Oliver of Orange, Texas, his granddaughter Amy (Nathan) Drake and grandson Jonathan all of Denver, Colorado, his brother Richard (Geraldine) Woodworth of St. Louis, sisters Bonnie Woodworth of Madison Hgts., and Sandra (Larry) Hovey of Rosebush, his sister-in-law Phyllis Woodworth. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Jonathon Oliver, Anna Oliver, Hunter Drake, And Riley Kate Drake, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Douglas Woodworth. There are many who will never know what they meant to him, for all in all, he was a private man.
