The Clare County Cleaver, Harrison, Mich., Thursday, June 24, 1999

LaVern E. Wood, age 73 of Clare, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 20,
in Clare.  
     LaVern was born the son of Dewey and Eleanor (Thering) Wood on
December 19. 1925 in Shepherd.  He married the former Mona Shaver on
June 7, 1952 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare. LaVern was a
life long resident of the Clare area, he had worked as a Human Resource
Instructor for Dow Corning.  La Vern was a member of the St. Cecilia
Catholic Church, the treasurer of the Knights of Columbus, Central
MichigahFederal Credit Union Board of Directors, American Legion Member
and also a member of the St. Cecilia School board.     
     LaVern is survived by his wife Mona; 2 sons, Michael (Susan) of Ft.
Lauderdale, Fl., and Thomas of Memphis; a daughter Mary Wood of Clare; 2
brothers Wlliam and Clair of Clare; 3 sisters Marguerite Koos of
Dearborn, Jeannie Haynak of Harrison, and Linda Zinser of Pinckney; 4
grandchildren Ashley, Evan, Cameron and Alexandra, LaVern was
predeceased by a daughter Darlene in 1978.
     Services will be held Thursday June 24 at ll:00 a.m. at the St.
Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ryan officiating.  Bural will
be  in the St. Cecilia cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the St,
Cecilia Church.  Arrangements by the Stephenson Wyman Funeral Home, Inc.
of Clare.
