Harold was born February 18, 1915 in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of John and Theresia (VanAmburg) Welhusen. Mr. Welhusen was united in marriage to Aleta Wolcott on July 27, 1935, in Maple Rapids, Michigan. Harold had resided in Harrison since 1978, moving from Kissimmee, Florida. He attended the Packard Aircraft School in Detroit, where he worked during WWII, testing airplane engines. Harold later went to work at Motorwheel and Fisher Body with employment also at Demmer tool and Die Co. in Lansing. Surviving are his wife, Aleta of Harrison; one son: Melvin Welhusen of Lansing, Michigan; two daughter-in-laws Mary Welhusen of Harrison and Vickie Welhusen of Dearborn, Michigan; one sister: Josephine Bishop of Midland, nine grandchildren, plus several nieces and hephews. Mr. Welhusen was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, william, Richard and Martin Welhusen; two brohers: William and John Welhusen; three sisers: Lenora Bartlett, Beatrice Burns and Dorothy Henning. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 14, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Rev. Jerry Britton officiating. Interment was in Summerfield Township Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Leota Community Church or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Arrangements were entrused with Stocking Funeral Home.
