He was one of four childdren, with brothers: Richard (wife Evelyn) Young and George (wife Loraine) Young and sister: Joanne Norton. On March 28, 1948 he was wed to Nora Murphy in Bath, Maine. Together they raised three children, sons: James (wife Kay) Young of Rapid City and Thomas (wife Anne) Young of Dearborn and daughter: Mary (Husband Todd) Stilphen of Woolwich, Maine. Robert moved from Dearborn to Harrison in 1985 where he became a member of St. AChanasius Church, Knights of Columbus Council (third degree, life time member), Clare County 40 et 8 Voiture 767, American Legion Post 404, and a volunteer counselor for the State of Michigan for the Newly Blind. Robert loved to talk and tell jokes at his picnic table and he enjoyed gardening and cutting his lawn. He liked to travel and go on cruises with his wife. His family wll always remember his beautiful smile. His friendship and big heart will be missed by many people. Mr. Young died on Monday, January 8, 200l at the age of 75. He leaves behind his wife, children, brother Richard, sister and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents and brother George. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan l0 a 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with a rosary service by the Knights of Columus at 7:30 pm. A funeral service was held to celebrate his life on Thursday, Jan. ll at l0:00 am at St. Athanasius Catholic Church with Father Daniel Nowak, OFM, presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid Michigan Hospice or Harrison Knights of Columbus, Disabled Children. Arrangements were entrusted to Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, Michigan.
