New York. He married Sarah Priestly in Livingston County. On the 13th of Feb. 1862 he joined the Union Army in St. Paul, Minn. He served in the Minn. Sharp Shooters as a private in 2nd Co. He was discharged in Washington D.C. in May 1864, when he enlisted again and served in the Adjt. Genl Office in Washington until 1866. He states that he resided in Dewitt Michigan until 1886. In 1886 he moved to Knox County, Tennessee where he bought a farm. He had two sons that I know of Charles L. Heath Sr. who became a local doctor in Tennessee. The other son James went back and forth from Tennessee to Michigan. He seemed to be a logger. One letter home to his mother mentions Loomis relatives in Michigan. I have school cards from the 1870s presented to son Charles for excellence, signed by teachers who I believe taught in Dewitt. One is signed by a woman with the last name of Knapp. I do not know what became of son James the logger. James L. Heath and wife Sarah are buried in Knox County,. Tennessee near Knoxville. Sincerely: Toni Jollay Prevost, information contributed in loving memory for Charles L. Heath Jr.
