The anticipated placement date is Veteran's Day, 2001. Question marks found in this file call your attention to words or names whose spelling cannot absolutely be determined. You may contact me with questions regarding this work at bdriscoll@voyager.net. I have no known relationship to the Handy Family. However, I would be happy to email you any information I have gathered. I became interested in this man following the '2000 Clinton County Cemetery Restoration Project.' At that time, we polished and painted a Veteran's marker located along the west fence of the Beech Cemetery, in section II. There are no headstones on the plot for Mr. Handy or any of the other family members thought to be buried there. GSW = gun shot wound. For the last name Mazgiffin, also see Majoffin. For the last name Fasquelle, also see Fasquell, Fasgrulle and Fasguille. Spinous means 'of the skeleton'. Subcutaneous means 'below the skin.' Persons interested in obtaining a free military headstone for the grave of an unmarked Veteran should contact the 'Sons of Union Soldiers of the Civil War.' Replacement stones are also available if the current stone has become damaged or is no longer legible. Sincerely, Betty Driscoll, 9394 West Silver Lake Road, Mears MI 49436 (submitted 22 Jul 2001).
