She had been ill for about four weeks, though her health had failed for the last few years. The funeral services were held at 10:30 o'clock at the Methodist church today (Thursday) and interment was made in the DeWitt cemetery. Mary Wheeler was born in Wiltshire, England in 1824. At about the age of 20 she was married to Oliver Blizzard at Wiltshire, and in about April of the year 1852 they came to the United States and settled near Chippewa Lake, Ohio. Two years later they came to Michigan and settled two miles from DeWitt where they lived until Mr. Blizzard enlisted in the war. He died after he had been away from home six months and then Mrs. Blizzard went with her nine young children to Maple Rapids where she since lived. One daughter died 38 years ago. She had been a member of the Methodist church for years. Beside two brothers, William and James Wheeler, of England, the deceased leaves the following eight children: Mrs. Willmer Miller, Mrs. Harriet Cook, Mrs. Clarissa Payne and Oliver Blizzard of Maple Rapids; Mrs. Amelia Bunting of West Branch; Charles Blizzard of Ithaca; Thomas Blizzard of Detroit; and Enos Blizzard of St. Johns.
