JOHNS NEWS, MI, Thursday afternoon, 5-20-1915, front page: "St. Johns woman died following short Illness: Mrs. Miles Boardman succumbs Sunday. Mrs. Miles Boardman passed away Sunday evening about 10:00 at the Hart Hospital, aged 59 years. Ureaenic poisoning caused her death, following an illness of 10 days. She was taken to the hospital for an operation but was too ill to undergo it. Funeral services were held 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at her home on Prospect Street, Reverend C. J. Kruse of the Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. Interment was made in the St. Johns Cemetery. The deceased, whose maiden name was Melinda Stutson, was born in Genesee County, Michigan October 2, 1855. When 8 years old, she came with her parents to Clinton County and settled in St. Johns, where she has lived since. On November 24, 1875, she was united in marriage to Miles Boardman, of St. Johns, who survives her. Four children were born to this union, two of whom survive, Roy, of Bend, Oregon and Mrs. Belle Lake of Petoskey, who is traveling in Oregon at the present time. Mrs. Boardman also leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Helen Stutson, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a brother, William, also of Milwaukee. Mrs. Boardman was a good Christian wife and mother. She was at one time a member of the Methodist-Episcopal Church of this city.
