J. BURNES DEAD Andrew Jackson Bumes, youngest son of James and Nancy Burnes. was born in Riley township. Clinton county on November 4. 1859. He was united in marriage with Alta Sanford on February 8, 1883. and to this union three children were born. Four years after their marriage they moved to Wacousta entering the mercantile business continuing in this work until misfortune came through loss by fire. Shortly after this they moved on the farm, their present home. Three years ago his health falling, he was compelled to give up farming and became active in the insurance business. His health gradually failed and after long months of suffering the end came Thursday morning. September 8, at the age of 61 years, ten months and four days. He leaves to mourn, a widow, three daughters, Mrs. Ivah Gordanier of Howell, Mrs. Charlotte Stevens of Grand Ledge and Miss Clara Burnes. Also two grandsons and two brothers, Henry and Hiram Burnes of St. Johns, and a host of friends. He was a man of high morals and a kind and loving husband and father, thinking always for the comfort of his family. He met misfortune bravely and no call for help ever came but he stood ready to help and do all in his power. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America and the Masonic Lodge.
