Today for Albert L. Eldridge Albert Lucene Eldridge, 52, well known farmer of Essex township, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday afternoon. Two weeks before Christmas Mr. Eldridge had been operated upon for hernia. Making good progress he returned to his home for the Christmas holidays. He developed a cold which settled on his lungs and which probably caused his death. Mr. Eldridge was born December 4, 1880 on the farm where he lived his whole life. As a boy, he attended the country schools of Clinton county and later the St. Johns high school. On August 29, 1906 he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Alta May Luther. The funeral will be held from the home at 2 p.m. today (Thursday). Mrs. Conrad Sim and Mrs. C. G. Symmonds will sing “Face to Face With Christ My Saviour” and “Jesus Saviour Pilot Me: with Mrs. T. S. Cleaver accompanying them at the piano. Rev. Thomas S. Cleaver of the Congregational church will officiate. Interment is to be made at Mt. Rest cemetery. Surviving Mr. Eldridge are his widow, Alta Eldridge, and aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua A. Eldridge; a brother. Erford; a sister, Mrs. Eliza Ann Maxwell; an aunt, Mrs. Janie Powell; two uncles, George Kelch of Bengal and Winfield Wager of California; two nephews and a niece, and many cousins and relatives. Mr. Eldridge was a warden and member of the St. Johns Congregational church. There was a close bond between his family. Father and sons farmed together. This well known farmer will be greatly missed by his many friends in the church, neighborhood and city of St. Johns. Mr. Eldridge was a great lover of nature and his interests were in the flowers, trees and birds.
