JOHNS, Mich., Feb. 27 - Norman T Fenner, age 76, a resident of Bingham Township for many years committed suicide last night by cutting his throat with a jack knife. Fenner resided with his daughter Mrs. Fayette Lewis. He had not been very well this winter, but was in unusually good spirits. Yesterday he was planning a trip to Eureka, which his daughter wished him to postpone until warmer weather, and her opposition may have incited the act. The family retired at 11 o'clock and when Mrs. Lewis got up in the night to fix the fire she missed her father. She called her son, who searched the premises and found Fenner dead in an outbuilding. There was a gash four inches long in his throat made with his jack knife. Prosecuting Attorney William M. Smith, justice George H. Marshall and Night Watchman Lyman S Alward visited the place and decided that an inquest was unnecessary. Mr. Fenner's wife died in 1899 and after her death he divided his property among his childern and lived with them. Besides Mrs. Lewis he leaves another daughter, Mrs. Ellsworth Patrick, and a son, R. V. Fenner. He was a member of the United Brethren church and the funeral will be held Thursday. Paper Grand Rapids Herald dz
