He came with his parents to Hamilton, Canada when a young boy where he was married to Bridget Allen, September 2, 1857. They came to St. Johns in 1861 and have had a continuous residence here with the exception of a few years on a farm in Olive township. Eight children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy, and two passed away a few years ago. There are left to mourn his loss, an aged wife, four children, James Flynn, Mrs. Anna Heatley, and John Flynn of St. Johns, and Michael Flynn of Washington, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grand children. He enlisted during the second year of the war and served until the close, when he received an honorable discharge. He passed away January 19, 1917, from old age and complications of diseases. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church monday morning, Rev. J.T. Lynch officiating. Interment was made at Mt.Rest cemetery. From "The Republican" Feb. 25, 1917
