Alonzo LeBaron, a resident of St. Johns for 34 years, passed away at his home on Wight street on Sunday afternoon at the advanced age of 81 years. He had been ill but a short time with heart trouble and passed away quietly after a visit by a friend. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the house, the Rev. W. E. Doty officiating. Members of St. Johns Lodge, No. 105, F. and A. M., of which the deceased was a life member, attended in a body and performed the Masonic burial services at the cemetery under the direction of Past Master Frank E. Stone. Interment was in South Bingham cemetery. Mr. LeBaron was born April 30, 1841, at Battle Creek, Michigan. When only a few years old he moved with his parents to Redford Center, Wayne County, where he lived for 12 years. A short time later he came to Olive Township and bought a farm, where he lived until he moved to St. Johns in 1888. In 1863 Mr. LeBaron was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Rheubottom. To this union four children were born, two of whom survive, Carl LeBaron of St. Johns and Mrs. Otta Goldie of New York. In 1910 Mrs. LeBaron passed away and nine years later the deceased married Mrs. Ada Benedict of Lansing. Mr. LeBaron served in the 27th regiment, company I, during the Civil War and was a member of the G. A. R. He is survived by his wife, the two children mentioned above, one brother, -Dr. Robert LeBaron of Pontiac and one grandson, Max LeBaron, of St. Johns.
