Edward C. Schray of Dewitt, Victim of Double Bereavement 

Dewitt—Funeral services were held last Wednesday for Louis F. Schray of 
Dewitt. The following morning Mrs. Nina Schray, the wife of his brother, 
Edward, was found dead in bed.

Louis Frederick Schray, youngest child and one of a family of three children 
of Charles W. and Catherine Greitenburger Schray, was born in Dewitt 
township August 26, 1884.  Louis spent his early life on the farm and 
received his education in the public schools of this county.  He was a 
sufferer from bronchial asthma for years and in 1921 he left for the west to 
seek a climate that would be beneficial to his health. He found the climate 
in San Diego, Calif., was the place for him to locate. He engaged in 
business there and at the time of his death he was manager of the San Diego 
Lumber Co.

He had been in good health until January 3, 1933. He was stricken again with 
his old malady but was not considered in a serious condition until Thursday, 
Jan. 12, when he gradually grew worse, passing away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 
aged 43 years.

October 4, 1926, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella J. Manhold of 
Rochester, New York. Besides his wife, he is survived by an only brother, 
Edward C. Schray, his parents, brother and sister preceding him in death, 
many relatives and a host of friends in Michigan and California. His wife 
brought his body from California to Lansing where the funeral was held at 
the Estes Funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 25. and burial in the Schray family 
lot in the Hurd cemetery.
