AGED RESIDENT DIES Samuel Tallmadge Passed Away Saturday at the Home of his Son. Samuel Tallmadge died at the home of his son, Andrew Tallmadge, at 308 Morton Street, Saturday evening, at 9 o'clock, of heart disease, aged 81 years. Mr. Tallmadge had been ailing for about a year but was confined to his bed but one day. Mr. Tallmadge was born in Masschusetts, March 12, 1824. He spent most of his early life in Ohio but came to Michigan when a young man and was married in Highland, Oakland County to Miss Mary White, who died in St Johns in 1864. He came to St. Johns in 1862 and resided here nearly all of the time since that early date. A few years after the death of his wife, Mr. Tallmadge was united in marriage to Evelyn Helms, who lived but fourteen years and he was later married to Elzina Hazelton, who died seven years ago. Mr. Tallmadge was the father of seven children, one of whom died in infancy and six of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Edward French, Clarksville, Mich; Mrs J.D. Henderson. Charles and Andrew Tallmadge, of St Johns; Edgar and Samuel Tallmadge, of Lansing. He also is survived by twenty-two grandchildren and several great-grand- children. Mr. Tallmadge was a member of the Adventist Church and has always lived an upright christian life. The funeral services were held at the home of his son, Andrew Tallmadge, Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. James Hyslop officiating. Interment was in St Johns Cemetery. Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral services, were his sons, from Lansing and nephews, Henry Tallmadge, and daughter, Mrs. Charles Brightenball, and William Tallmadge, wife and son, James.
