Large monument commemorates the death of (4) children of John Henry and 
Matilda Hartman who died of diptheria in January and March of 1886. (per oral 
history)  
The following poem is found on the base of the monument:
"Dearest children thou hast left us
And thy loss we deeply feel
Tis the Lord who hath befreft us
Of the ones we loved so well."

Each child also has an individual marker.
