On his tombstone, it just says M. Yeck. On his marriage certificate he is Menasa and Manassa. The second spelling is with the German double s. On some of his children's birth records he is Manassah. Manassa Yeck first appears, in records, in MI on 2/01/1868, when he purchases some land from George Morton or Martin in section 22, Eaton Co. MI. (Liber 39, Page 119) Source is Eaton Co. Copies are held by Benjamin Kinsey. In 1876, Manassa acquires a quit claim deed from a Jane Semer in Eaton Co. MI. (Liber 67, Page 45) Source is Eaton Co. MI Deed Index, 1873-1888, LDS Film #0965712, Vols. 4&5. Copy of indenture shows that Manassa paid $50.00 for the quit claim deed for 40 acres in section 22, Windsor Tw'p., Eaton Co., MI. Manassa and Laura had a farm in Diamondale MI and moved to TX for his health. They bought a 300 acre farm near Old Alton TX. Laura sold the farm after Manassa died in 1905.
