GRAND LEDGE INDEPENDENT Friday, November 30, 1877 Page 1, Col. 5 DIED - In this village, November 27, 1877, of typhoid fever, little Maud, only child of Mr. and Mrs Wm. Manwarren aged four years. GRAND LEDGE INDEPENDENT September 11, 1903- Page 4, Col. 1 MANWARING-HATCHEL One of the prettiest weddings of the year was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs George J. Hatchel in Delta on Wednesday, September 9, when their daughter, Louise B. became the wife of Frank Manwaring of this city. Rev. S. E. Kelley performed the ceremony in the presence of 175 guests from Delta, Lansing, Cleveland and Helena Ohio, St. Johns, DeWitt, Grand Ledge and Potterville, using the beautiful ring ceremony. Lorna Woodruff of DeWitt being the ring bearer. During the ceremony, Miss Ora Palmer sang "O Promise Me." The home was nicely decorated throughout, autumn leaves being used in the dining room, while golden rod, myrtle and dahlias were used in decorating the other rooms. Many beautiful as well as useful presents were received by the young couple. The bride is one of Delta's fairest daughters and deserves a full measure of happiness in her new home. Mr. Manwaring is a very popular young man and has the ability and vim that brings success in business. Mr. and Mrs Manwaring left for Helena, Ohio for a ten days trip. On their return they will occupy Mrs Sheet's residence on West Jefferson Street. GRAND LEDGE INDEPENDENT May 23, 1930-Page 12, Col. 2 FRANK MANWARING IS GIVEN FINAL SUMMONS Former Well Known Resident Passes at Lansing Frank Manwaring, only son of Mr. and Mrs Melissa Manwaring of this city, passed away late Sunday afternoon in Lansing where he has lived the past twenty years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. A. Carnell of the local Baptist church officiating, burial was made by the side of his father and young son in Oakwood. Surviving are the wife Mrs. Lulu Hatchel Manwaring, one son George, the mother and a host of friends. The large cortege which followed him to his last resting-place and the elaborate floral offerings expressed the high esteem in which he was held by a large circle of friends. His devotion to his aged mother was never interrupted until stricken by illness about a month previous to his death. For many years he has served as a salesman for the Worden Grocery Co. which later became the Lee and Cady Co. and with his wife was a popular member of the Entre Nous Club of Lansing. Several auto loads of Grand Ledge friends attended the Lansing service. Mrs Manwaring who was at her son's bedside several days previous to his passing will remain at his home a few days before her return to this city. MANWARING Mrs. Melissa Manwaring, aged eighty two years passed away Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs John Kent where she had made her home for several months. Surviving are a grandson, George Manwaring of Lansing and a niece, Mrs Inez Brainard of St. Louis. The deceased had lived in Grand Ledge the greater part of her life. She had long been a member of the Baptist Church and a faithful attendant as long as she was physically able. Hers was a fine Christian character, quiet and unassuming, but deeply beloved by all who knew her. The body was taken to Smith Funeral Home where the services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
