Funeral of Abijah Bowen Held Here Wednesday
Abijah Bowen was born in Chatauqua county, N.Y., March 12, 1833, and
died at his home in oneida township May 17, 1909 at the age of 76
years, 2 months and 5 days.

He came to Grand Ledge March 7, 1854, and was united in marriage to
Miss Louisa Wheeler of Chatauqua county, N.Y., on April 9, 1854, in
the village of Grand Ledge, and they have residend in the township
of Oneida ever since.

Four children were born to them, three of whom survive. They are c.F.
Bowen of Oneida, Etta A. Cole of Oneida and Effie L. Britton of Riverdale.

Mr. Bowen was actively identified with the Methodist church since
a young man, and was for a number of years a class leader in the local
church of that denomination. He was also a charter member of the Grand
Ledge Masonic lodge, and the members of that order attended the funeral
in a body, conducting the services at the cemetery.

The funeral was held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon,
Rev. W. E. Doty officiating. The interment was at Oakwood.
