Cheesmond William Thomas Cheesmond, aged 74 years, son of Robert and Mary Cheesmond was born in Englad, Sept. 23, 1863 and passed away at his home on West Main St. early Friday evening. As a youth of 19 he came to the United States and after a year's residence in Jackson returned to his native land, only to return in another year to America to make his home. He reseded a few years in Illinois, then back to Michigan. He has been a resident of Grand Ledge for 47 years. His was a quiet, unassuming disposition and he was devoted to his home and family. The body was taken to the Smith-Hoag funeral Home where services were held Monday afternoon, Rev. J. W. Vickers, officiating. The bearers were Willard and Ward Davis, Charles and Lyle Hodge, Homer Pearson, and Wm. Pool. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery. the deceased had been connected with the mining industry practically all his life, in England and the land of his adoption. He enjoyed a wide acquaitance with the older residents of the city and he was loved and respected by those who knew him intimately. Among those who attended the services from out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Abbey, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Abbey Jr., Mr. and Mrs, Jack Swift, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Swift Jr., all of Saginaw; Mrs. Retta Brown and daughter of Grand Rapids.
