CHILDS Joseph Childs was born in the state of Ohio, December 12, 1848. He moved with his parents to Kendallville, Indiana, when he was yet a boy. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Phenele Stillinger, February 1, 1874. They came to Sunfield, Eaton County, Michigan, the same year. To them were born two children, Mable and Walter, who survive them. Mrs Childs died some 18 years ago, as many will remember, thus leaving Mr. Childs and the children to toil on and battle with the cares and sorrows of life until Nov. 12, 1913 when the death messenger came for the father. He lived 64 years, 11 months and 1 day. During this time he was convinced those who knew him that he intensed to be a thoroughly honorable and upright man, honest in his dealings with his fellow men. Kind with his neighbors and truly a kind and devoted husband and father and we feel when Mr Childs was taken away a good man had gone. He leaves to mourn, besides his children, three sisters, two brothers and many friends. Funeral was held at his late home in Sunfield, November 15, conducted by Rev. James Nott. Assisted by Rev. E. M. Wheeler
