A man of quiet and retiring disposition, he will be missed by those who knew him best. A good citizen has passed on and we shall know him no more. Thomas Campbell was born June 8, 1836 at Osgood, Canada. His early life was spent with the pioneers of that community. In 1859 he made his first visit to the states staying but a short time at Fittsburg, Mass. but later established citizenship here by making formal application for the naturalization papers in New York State. In 1865 he moved to Genoa, Ohio and a year later to Michigan where he has resided practically ever since. On March 8,1873 he was married to Anna Dikeman of Pittsfield, Ohio and together they established a home in Vermontville where with the exception of a few years absense they have lived ever since. There were born to them four children: Hollis W.,Frank M., Flossie I, and Burt N. He is survived by his wife, two children, five grandchildren, one great grand child, one brother, and one sister. He was laid at rest in Woodlawn on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Bredwater officiating, services being held from the Congregational church. VERMONTVILLE ECHOS January 24, 1917 Thomas' father was Ellis Campbell and mother was Melissa Chamberlin..
