Campbell, 96, of rural Sunfield, died Wednesday afternoon, July 11, 1984, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing following a short illness. Mrs Campbell's great grandfather, John Dow, was one of the first settlers in Roxand Township, having bought an 80 acre parcel from the federal government in 1837 for $200.00. Mrs Campbell was born here on May 22, 1888, a daughter of William and Mary (Halladay) Spalding. She was baptized at an early age in the Dow (Baptist) Church. She as a charter member of the Rox-Sun-Ida Garden Club and was active in the Audubon Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren, in 1947, a grandson, Loren Fred Campbell in 1963, and a granddaughter, Allen Mullins in 1975. Services were held at 2 pm Saturday at the Barker Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken with Pastor Kevin Cherry of the Sunfield United Brethern Church officiating. Interment was in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken. Pallbearers were Dennis, Clay, Clair Hewitt. Warren Milbourne and Daniel Scott, William Taylor.
