He was married to Frances Neely at Franklin Pennsylvania, in 1877. Soon afterward they came to Michigan where they have since resided. He was converted in early life and joined the Free Methodist church to which he always remained a faithful member. He was a man devoted to his home and family where he will be greatly missed as well as in the community where he has always lived an exemplary life. He leaves to mourn their loss, a loving wife, two daughters, Mrs Homer Lyon and Mrs Grace Ives of Sunfield, and one son, Edward of Lansing; one brother, Jesse of Franklin Pennsylvania; one sister, Clara Pyle, of Van, Pennsylvania; two half sisters, Mrs Eva Kimble of Coldwater, Michigan and Mrs Minnie Tift, of Los Angeles, California; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. A daughter Carrie preceded him in death in 1907.
