Deer, 58 of Grand Ledge, passed away unexpectedly July 20 (1971) at a Lansing hospital. Mr. Deer was a member of the Eaton County Board of Commissioners and former Oneida Township supervisor. He was born in Vermontville, a son of Rowe & Alta (Bosworth) Deer. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Deer was active in local government and civic projects. He had been township supervisor for 21 years before being elected to the county board in January. He was a member of the equalization and ways and means committees. Mr. Deer was an Oldsmobile employee and a member of the Quarter Century Club, former member of the Strange School Board and Oneida Community Club, a member of the State Shorthorn Breeders Association, a member and past president of the Eaton County Shorthorn Breeders Assoc., and a 4-H club leader for many years. Services will be Friday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peters and Murray Funeral Home in Grand Ledge. The Rev. Floyd Nagel will officate. Interment in Union Cemetery.
